Verizon's CEO at CES: High-IQ Networks and Smart Collaborations Will Spread Technology Innovation on a Global Scale

LAS VEGAS – January 6, 2011 –

Verizon Chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg and Verizon COO Lowell McAdam were joined on Thursday (Jan. 6) by three of the communications and entertainment industry's top executives to kick off the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show.

Seidenberg invited Jeff Bewkes, chairman and CEO of Time Warner; Dr. Sanjay Jha, co-CEO of Motorola and CEO of Motorola Mobility; and Mike Cleron, principal engineer of Google, to participate in his CES opening keynote address, which focused on how high-IQ networks and innovative content and applications are combining to fuel "one of the most innovative eras in the history of technology."

The five executives engaged in lively discussions of their companies' current collaborations and the future of communications and entertainment technologies.  The broad range of topics included multi-screen and mobile video, HD and 3D content, 4G smartphones and converged devices, evolution of the Android platform, and open development.

(Note: The entire keynote address and a transcript of the speech will be available for viewing later in the day. Visit http://www22.verizon.com/onecms/LeadershipTeam/Speeches/Speeches.htm)

During the keynote address, Seidenberg noted that today's more than 2 billion Internet users and 5 billion wireless users form the biggest market for technology the world has ever known.  He said that collaborations between hardware and software, computing and communications, technology giants and thousands of entrepreneurs will be crucial to the industry's ability to deliver relevant, personalized communications and entertainment services to billions of individuals.

"People are using technology to erase the boundaries between home and work, here and there, virtual and real," Seidenberg said.  "They imagine access to everything at their fingertips and they want it now, no matter where they are or what screen they have at hand.  They are challenging us to deliver better products, faster networks, more simplicity and more creativity."

Ultra-fast intelligent networks, including Verizon's advanced 4G LTE, fiber-to-the-home and global IP networks, will spread innovation on a global scale and help lead the way to the future, according to Seidenberg.

"The more we infuse consumer electronics with the power and intelligence of high-speed networks, the faster we'll create new demand and accelerate the cycle of innovation and growth that drives the industry forward," he said.

The CES is being held through Sunday (Jan. 9) at the Las Vegas Hilton Center.  For more information about Verizon at the CES, visit http://newscenter.verizon.com/verizon-at-ces-2011.

Verizon's Website Named as one of the Best Corporate Sites

NEW YORK – February 9, 2011 –

A leading social engagement firm has named Verizon's corporate website the top community website among wireline and wireless telecommunications companies, and 6th overall among all companies.

The firm, ComBlu, cited www.verizon.com's strong set of social engagement features, which enable consumers to interact easily with Verizon and with one another.

ComBlu also praised the enhancements to the online Verizon Community during 2010 as offering user-friendly, high-value content for consumers.  The rankings are contained in ComBlu's second annual "State of Online Brand Communities" report.

"Verizon was ranked very highly because of its peer-to-peer community where customers share experiences with each other," said Kathy Baughman, a principal at ComBlu. "It has created a strong info-centric platform that features consumer community leaders who help others get more out of their products and services.

"Social media is growing up and companies are beginning to take advantage of it to improve the overall customer experience.  Verizon has created a great destination for customer interaction and learning," Baughman said.

ComBlu evaluated company websites based on best practices for site navigation, share features, welcoming, leader board, member spotlight, personal dashboard, campaigns/contests, offline engagement, content customization, customer advocate or expert programs, toolbars and custom widgets.

"Our customers are important to us, so we've made a concerted effort in the past year to create more ways to engage with them through the Verizon Community, Facebook and Twitter," said Mark Studness, Verizon director of e-commerce. "We've customized options for customers to give us direct input and share their thoughts so we can respond and act on that information to provide the solutions and products or services they find most valuable."

Two of the most recent additions to the Verizon Community - Room To Learn and the Idea Exchange - offer new consumer content and interaction opportunities.  Room To Learn is a site rich in educational content about digital lifestyle activities, and offers free online courses and basic instruction on all things digital.  It also features weekly technology advice from longtime tech writer Alfred Poor.

The Idea Exchange allows customers to directly submit to Verizon product development teams suggestions and proposed enhancements for Verizon products and services. Customers can vote on the best ideas, with Verizon giving status updates on the site regarding progress of the recommendations.

In addition to the Verizon Community, customers also can interact with Verizon at http://twitter.com/verizon and http://www.facebook.com/VerizonFiOS.

About Prince Royce
Breakthrough Latin recording artist Prince Royce has exploded into the mainstream with his fresh urban approach to traditional bachata music, fusing Tropical Latin with contemporary R&B and pop rhythms. Royce’s self-titled debut album, released in 2010, has been certified double platinum, while garnering a 2010 Latin Grammy® nomination, three 2011 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards and four 2011 Latin Billboard Awards. "Prince Royce" became the #1 Latin album in the country, more than a year after its release, marking an unprecedented achievement for a developing Latin music artist. Royce’s first single, a bilingual bachata cover of the 1961 Ben E. King classic, “Stand By Me,” reached the #1 position on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart; and his second single, “Corazón Sin Cara,” written by Royce himself, fared even better, shooting up to #1 on Billboard’s Latin Songs chart.

The artist has had two sold-out tours in Europe, one in the U.S., and has been invited by Enrique Iglesias to be a special guest on his fall 2011 tour of North America. Royce has recently entered into an exclusive, long-term, worldwide recording deal with Atlantic Records via a joint venture with Top Stop Music to release his next albums in English and Spanish.
